Iraq exported 3.453 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from its southern ports in the month of March, the country’s oil ministry said.

Iraqi Ministry of Oil released a statement on Sunday (April 1) saying crude oil exports from southern ports reached more than 107 million barrels last month.

Iraq generated more than $6.418 billion from crude oil sales, Oil Ministry Spokesman Assim Jihad said. A barrel of oil was sold for $59.954.

Jihad added there were no oil exports in March from Kirkuk fields in northern Iraq. The fields, however, are under the central government’s control.

Oil exports from Kirkuk fields stopped in October when Iraqi forces alongside Hashid al-Shaabi retook the province from Kurdish forces in the wake of a non-binding referendum rejected as illegal by the central government.

Iraq exported an average of 3.426 million barrels of oil per day from ports under its control in February.

Reuters reported the Kurdistan Region exports about 300,000 bpd of crude oil from the region through a pipeline across Turkey.
